NFC technology is used by new spyware on Android phones to collect data.
A new type of malware targeting Android users has emerged, which uses the smartphone's NFC technology to steal bank card information. This malicious software, named SuperCard X, allows fraudsters to easily clone victims' card details and use them for transactions at stores or Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).
Mobile security firm Cleafy has identified multiple incidents of fraud involving this malware in Italy. Research shows that although the nature of each incident is similar, there are subtle differences in the software used. This suggests that region-specific versions are being developed for the fraudsters.
